Randolph S. Marshall, MD, MS

Randolph S. Marshall is an associate professor of clinical neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and associate attending neurologist on the Stroke Service at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr Marshall received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College in 1982, and his Master's and medical degrees from the University of California in 1988. After completing his neurology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital he completed two years of a cerebrovascular fellowship with Dr J. P. Mohr at the Neurological Institute at Columbia University Medical Center, then joined the faculty of Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1994.

Dr Marshall has a clinical practice in neurology with a focus on cerebrovascular diseases and stroke. He also codirects the Cerebral Localization Laboratory with Dr Ronald M. Lazar, PhD, and conducts an active research program on cerebral hemodynamics and brain function including the investigation of brain reorganization after stroke using functional MRI. He has been continuously funded by National Institutes of Health grants for his research since his appointment at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also participates in several clinical trials for acute stroke therapy, stroke prevention, and stroke recovery. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, and the American Medical Association.
