Marian C. Hawkey, R.N., is the Clinical Liaison for the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
Ms. Hawkey has extensive clinical and managerial experience in cardiovascular critical care, including the heart transplant program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia. In addition, she has many years of experience in cardiovascular clinical research, including working with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation coordinating clinical trials for complex patient populations. These trials include protocols for patients in cardiogenic shock and those eligible for angiogenesis. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Hawkey served as clinical coordinator for the coronary care unit at the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute in New York City.
At the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy, she coordinates care for patients undergoing percutaneous intervention and develops clinical and educational initiatives to improve quality of care. Ms. Hawkey has a particular interest in the management of left ventricular dysfunction. She is an invited lecturer on a variety of cardiovascular topics and has co-authored multiple scientific abstracts and publications. A member of the faculty of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Nurse Technologist Symposium since 2001, she is serving as the symposium's course co-director in 2005.
Ms. Hawkey is a clinical care associate of the American College of Cardiology and is certified as a clinical research coordinator. She received her R.N. degree at Saint Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in New York.
