Michael C. Guiry, P.A., is the Chief Physician Assistant for the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork- Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. In this role, he is responsible for training and supervising a team of 17 physician assistants and providing ongoing education on cardiovascular procedures and protocols. In addition, he manages patient care for the Hospital's 36-plus bed inpatient telemetry unit.
Prior to joining the Center, Mr. Guiry was the Chief Physician Assistant for Interventional Cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He has also been a staff physician assistant at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he provided patient care in a variety of settings, including the cardiac care unit, progressive care unit, same-day ambulatory care unit, and cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Mr. Guiry received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, and his physician assistant certificate from Bayley Seton Hospital in Staten Island, New York. He has been an adjunct professor for the physician assistant program for Pace University since January 2000 and is a regular presenter at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics symposium, among others. He was the chairperson of the Spring 2005 conference of the New York State Society of Physician Assistants.
