Academic Evening: This event takes place one evening in
late April or early May at the Faculty Club, and is an opportunity
for fellows, residents, medical students and research associates
in the department to present their research and academic work to their colleagues and the faculty. It is organized in the form of a
competition. All submitted abstracts are presented as posters, and
the top six are selected for oral presentation that evening, and are
ranked by a distinguished Guest Judge. The evening ends with a
buffet dinner and award presentations

Mock Oral Exams: One morning each Spring (usually in March or April), a few weeks prior to the A.B.A Oral
Board Exam, all residents attend a "mock" oral exam. CA-2 and
CA-3 residents are each assigned a thirty minute exam period with one senior (often an actual Board examiner) and one junior
examiner. Examiners conduct the exam identically to the A.B.A.
administered exam. At the end of the exam, the examiners critique
the resident on their exam performance. Although stressful for all at that moment, residents find this to be a valuable opportunity to practice and
prepare for the actual, inevitable, exam and to ask for more opportunities.
