Some anesthetizing locations do not fall within the domain of a major subspecialty clinical division, but residents need the opportunity nonetheless to learn anesthetic management of patients in a number of out-of-the-O.R. locations. In fact, more than 20% of our anesthetics administered on an annual basis are in non-operating room anesthetizing locations (NORA sites), and this is certainly a trend as more and more operations are performed non-invasively; In addition we have witnessed an explosion in imaging technology over the last 5 years. Residents spend time providing anesthetic care for patients undergoing procedures Radiology (MRI), Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology, Cardiac Catheterization, the Eye Institute (for ophthalmologic surgeries), the Electroconvulsive Therapy Suite and the Endoscopy Suite.
