fellowship IN TRANSPLANT ANESTHESIA

The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University is offering a one- or two-year combined liver transplantation and major vascular anesthesiology fellowship. This unique position is open to applicants who completed an accredited anesthesiology residency and are board eligible. The fellowship emphasizes comprehensive training in perioperative care of patients undergoing liver transplantation as well as major vascular surgical procedures. Fellows are expected to directly participate in complex clinical cases and supervise and teach residents in both clinical and didactic sessions. The program is designed to train fellows to become leaders in academic transplant/vascular anesthesiology. Columbia University is an internationally recognized leader in solid organ transplantation and major vascular surgical procedures. Electives in TEE and intensive postoperative care will be available. Exceptional clinical and/or basic science research opportunities are available within the department. The department has extensive NIH funding and an outstanding record of training anesthesiology clinicianscientists. The fellows will receive comprehensive research training in addition to the outstanding clinical exposure. Balance between clinical and research training can be individualized based on the fellow’s goals and career plans.
