Clinical Fellows
Salaries for fellows training at New York Presbyterian Hospital in ACGME accredited fellowships are revised periodically and are competitive with similar northeast programs.

Salaries for the year 2016-2017  are:

New York Presbyterian Hospital provides graduate staff (residents and fellows) and their enrolled eligible dependents with hospital and medical insurance benefits, vision and dental plans. Long-term disability and professional liability insurance is provided at no charge to the house staff. Basic Life Insurance of $100,000 is also provided at no cost to the house staff employee.  Additional options include spending accounts, legal and financial services and a tax-sheltered annuity plan (408B). Detailed information on all benefits is available through the NYPH Graduate Medical Education Office at 212-305-6081.

Vacation Time
Fellows are given 20 days paid vacation yearly.

The Department pays for fellow memberships in the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA), and the International Anesthesia Research society (IARS) during fellowship training. These memberships include subscriptions to the monthly journals Anesthesiology and Anesthesia & Analgesia.

Fellows are provided with an Annual Educational Allowance of $1600.  Fellows may choose to use these funds to attend a designated meeting (paid for by the Department and approved in advance by their program director and the Chair) or for approved education materials. 

Library Resources
There is a departmental library that is available to the fellows 24 hours/7 days a week. Many anesthesia subspecialty areas maintain libraries with books and journals specific to their areas of specialization. In addition, the Columbia University¹s Health Sciences Library (Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library) is part of the hospital complex. Personal computers with on-line bibliography services and MEDLINE searches are available in a designated Computer Library. There are computers in the Department¹s lounges and libraries with internet access and online access to the latest Anesthesia literature available.
