Statement of Need Medication Errors involving HIV medications are common and can be prevented. This web video is designed to provide Pharmacists with an overview the types of HIV medication errors encountered in practice and provide practical strategies to identifying and preventing them from occurring. Cases will be used to illustrate common errors in the hospital and outpatient pharmacy settings. Finally, strategies for prevention will be reviewed. Target Audience Pharmacists Course Goals and Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be able: 1. Review Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines for HIV infection 2. Describe common types of medication errors encountered in HIV medicine 3. Using cases, provide examples of medication errors that have occurred in the past with HIV infected patients 4. Provide strategies to prevent the occurrence of medication errors.
