To improve cardiovascular health.
To perform rigorous, innovative, interdisciplinary behavioral cardiology research at Columbia University Medical Center and in collaboration with other national and international institutions that 1) increases the understanding of the psychosocial, behavioral, and biological processes involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension and cardiovascular disease and 2) develops and tests novel interventions to affect these processes.
To be a national and international resource for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating knowledge pertinent to biopsychosocial factors in hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
To encourage, support, and evaluate innovative ideas and programs from behavioral cardiology that lead to the adoption of key findings into the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
To develop enduring interdisciplinary, translational research collaborations across the Columbia University Medical Center campus for addressing hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
To train future scientists by providing mentorship and expertise and by developing state-of-the-art curricula in behavioral cardiology.
